Whether you're passionate about nature, looking for a way to give back, or just want to spend time outdoors with a great group of people, tree planting is a rewarding experience for all. Plus, every tree you plant will leave a legacy for future generations to enjoy. Join us and be a part of something that truly makes a difference!
Our volunteer opportunities will vary but often include tree planting, tree care, site maintenance, invasive species removal, riparian buffer restoration, and community engagement. We will also offer opportunities to help with educational outreach and community events.
Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty, as well as closed-toe shoes (preferably boots). We recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, water, and any personal items like gloves or allergy medicine, though we provide most of the tools and equipment.
Most events last 2-4 hours, depending on the activity. You are welcome to stay for as long as your schedule allows, but we ask that you sign up in advance to help with planning.
Yes, we strive to accommodate volunteers with varying abilities. Please contact Jimi (jmiller@greenspaceschattanooga.org) in advance so we can accommodate anything you might need to help get you involved.
No experience is necessary! We welcome volunteers of all skill levels and provide training and guidance at every event.
Age requirements vary depending on opportunity. Please check the opportunity sign-up for these requirements. If a volunteer is under the age of 14, they must have a legal parent or guardian with them at all times.
We provide documentation for volunteer hours if needed for school, community service, or other programs. Just let us know when you sign up, and we’ll make sure to track your hours.
If a signature is needed, be sure to speak with the captain of your volunteer group.
